Online Stopwatch has over a dozen timers for counting up and counting down, including the countdown timers shown here. Assign a task, set the timer to count down, and turn your attention back to your students. Even if you get caught up in an activity and don't notice the time passing, the online timer reminds you! Wonderful for Smart Boards.
Sign your students up for free accounts and watch them create interactive atlases with maps that communicate! Hundreds of outline maps are available such as all fifty states, continents, historical maps, world maps, and country maps. Awesome for all sorts of geography extensions as well as learning about maps and how to use them.
I searched for a site that would print the word find in LOWERCASE letters. HATE that most of the free automatic word find creators were in all caps. That is NOT how we teach children to spell words, so why have them search for them that way! Simply type in your word list, how many letters per line height-width) then click create. I copy and paste into a word doc so I can diddle with it. Word finds are a wonderful way to review spelling. Having a child create their own puzzle also reinforces lessons and is great for a word-work option for Daily 5.
The "Mother Load" of Daily 5 stuff. If you're a newbie and need advice, ideas, and how to's, this is THE "go to" site and it's FREE.
Grammar monster is an outstanding site for grammar help. They have easy-to-understand definitions, plenty of examples, plus tips, and quizzes. By far my favorite grammar site.
Wonderful website loaded with FREE activites, printables, and games, that help children with phonemic awareness, as it aids in learning how to read.
All sorts of freebies! One of my favorites: "Go Fix!" Play a 'Go Fish' style game with a set of cards containing affixes along with an assortment of root words.
Over 1,000 pages of free printables, many with an alphabet theme. This Christian homeschooling mom shares her gifts and talents to help educate children: "If you enjoy free printables, crafts and games for little ones, ideas for family fun and encouraging posts for moms, sign up and have Happy and Blessed Home delivered to your inbox."
If you've enjoyed the teaching materials and would like to donate even a dollar to help me with the cost of running TWM, I'd be grateful. Thank you!
