1-2-3 Come Make A Mother's Day "Craftivity" With Me.

It's hard to cram in making a Mother's Day gift when you have to cover so many standards every day, so I designed a writing prompt "craftivity" that covers writing standards and makes a sweet keepsake gift for mom.

mothers day gifts, mothers day cards, common core mothers day, mothers day writing prompts, writing prompts for may, bulletin boards for may, bulletin boards for mothers day, spring bulletin boards, free common core for kindergarten, free common core lessons for 1st grade, common core lessons, free common core writing activities, The horse's head is made by tracing the child's foot with their shoe on. Simply run off the rest of the templates on brown construction paper.

Students glue the pieces together to make a quick and easy "horseshoe."  I've included a little rhyme students can glue to the neck of the horse, or have older students write it themselves.

It says: "This horse's head was made by me tracing my shoe.  A keepsake for Mother's Day and an I love you."

Run off the writing prompt template: How do I love you?  Let me count the ways: Students think of at least 10 things they love about their mom, which includes the first one: I love playing and horsing around with you.

For more pizzazz add wiggle eyes and students' school picture.  Completed projects make a cute bulletin board.  Take it down and send the horses home the Friday before Mother's Day.

1-2-3 Come Feel the Wind and Watch the Clouds With Me!

March is known as the windy month, so many of the books we read had to do with that theme.

activities for the wind blew, hutchins wind blew activities, wind activities, cloud activities, 3D shape activities, 3D shape lessons, 3D shape booklet, cloud booklet, wind booklet, I wanted to have my students transition to a related activity after we read The Wind Blew, by Hutchins as well as It Looked Like Spilt Milk, so I designed these 2 easy readers.

In The Wind Blew, students enjoy cutting and gluing the pictures to their matching pages.

This packet includes a graphing extension and 2 optional choices for the flag and balloon pages.

Students trace & write the shape word and then glue the appropriate cloud to the page.

This packet includes 2 graphing extensions, and is a great activity to do after reading It Looked Like Spilt Milk, or Eric Carle's Little Cloud.

I decided to combine coins with penguins, as that’s a popular theme that many study in January, thus Cent-sational Penguins was born.

It’s an easy and fun way to review a variety of math and reading standards in a short amount of time.

Students trace and write the coin word and its value. They also circle the capital letters, add end punctuation, as well as color, cut and glue the matching coins.

There are additional writing opportunities, as students think of alliterative nouns and verbs to complete the last sentences.

Punctuation paddles are quick and easy to make and a super-fun way for students to learn about end punctuation. They also make a terrific whole-group assessment tool.

All 3 punctuation marks are on one Popsicle stick (it's a tri-fold).

I jazzed mine up with crayons, glitter glue, rhinestones and wiggle eyes.

I've incorporated Dolch and word wall words in the simple sentences.  Print and laminate the monthly cards.

Teachers read a card; students twirl their Popsicle stick so that the correct punctuation faces forward, and hold it up in the air.

Teachers can see at a glance, who does not have the correct answer and jot down notes of who needs help.
